Green Buses
By:
Summary: Transportation is important, and although in big cities people are able to walk where they need to go, quicker transportation such as buses is still a requirement. Buses are typically known for being non-ecofriendly, and pollute the air and major cities. They use tons of gas and diesel, create plenty of pollution, and everything else in between. In NYC, their subway project is already years and billions of dollars behind schedule. Some say that building mass transit is a waste, while others say it is important even though it would be pricy. Buses are known for supporting low-income people with transportation, and dimishing buses because they aren't ecofriendly would cause chaos. Cars will be cars and pollute, but people have been looking into getting greener buses (literally, and ecofriendly). Major American cities including New York, Chigaco, Los Angeles, and Washington have starting introducing these green buses. The green buses run on solar, electric, hydrogen energy, or even a combination of all three! While other methods of transportation are burning fossil fuels that will take millions of years to replace, the bus industry is beginning to change for the better.
Reflection: I personally think that this is awesome...for everyone! The bus companies don't get complaints about how much they pollute, the people are happy with the eco-friendly buses, and they even look good!! Because buses are so popular in highly popullated cities, the amount of air pollution in the cities should decrease once the buses have went to the green side. This impacts me, because now when I go to the city, and take a bus (hopfully a green bus), I know I will be helping the enviorment and won't feel bad about taking a bus. I was just in NYC yesterday, and it was so polluted, and even with such a small change with the buses, it would point the city in the right direction.
Questions:
1) What do you think of this idea? Is it good or bad, and why or why not should bus companies use it?
2) Do you think green buses will catch on? Will they work for the people? Why or why not?
3) Do you think that these buses will cause the city to become more green as a whole? Why or why not?
4) Do you see any downsides to using these green buses? How are these downsides?

ReplyDeleteOPINION/REFLECTION: I think that this is a great idea! Finally something such as this has come along in cities to lessen pollution. Cities are known for being much dirtier and polluted than other areas and this may change that problem a little bit.I think that it may be pricy, but if we have to make every effort to go green it is a must. Once there is less pollution that means our air and surroundings will be cleaner when we reach city areas. Maybe these ideas of using solar powered transportation will spread to areas other than the city. I agree with sam when she said shee would feel good riding a green bus because we are helping the environment.
ReplyDeleteANSWERS TO QUESTIONS:
1) I think that it is a good idea for bus companies to use this. Everything that is helping the earth is a good idea. As long as we have a place to live, we are okay. Having a home is more important than the money we have.
2) I think the buses will catch on and be helpful because we are making the earthj healthier and have a good system of transportation at the same time.
3)The hope is that green will catch on. I think that the cities will go greener but it will take a long time before we get there. I think that once people see examples of going green, they will follow the same example.
4)The only downsides I see is the loss of money. The cities may not be able to buy enough buses to make a difference.
EXTRA QUESTIONS:
1) How many buses do you think would make a difference? How much of a difference?
2) Why would people not want this bus?
3) Do you think this idea could/should possibly spread to areas outside of the cities or should it mainly stay in cities? why or why not?
Opinion/Reflection: This is such a smart idea. Cities are full of pollution and it is hard to know where to start to help clean the dirty city. This is a good effort to help the city. This is a really good change and it should spread around to other cities. This made a connection to me because whenever I go to cities, all I see are taxis and cars that are causing pollution. Next time I go to New York City, I will try to ride a green bus.
ReplyDeleteAnswers to Some Questions:
1. I think this is a good idea and we should have bus companies use this because it is helping our environment.
2. The buses should catch on because it could really help change the amount of pollution in the city. They will work for people because it is a good source of transportation.
Other Questions:
1. Do you think people will want to take this bus over other transportation in the city?
2. Who do you think thought of this idea?
3. How much do you think of a change this is with pollution?
Opinion:I think this is a very clever and creative idea! The busses look much better and they are also going to pollute a lot less! Before the change, busses created a lot of pollution from the diesel and gas, but now they are one step ahead of some cars. The next time I'm in one of the major cities i will be sure to ride one. Hopefully this will spread to many other cities across the country and globe!
ReplyDeleteAnswers to Questions:
1. I think it is a good idea since busses cause a lot of pollution. Bus companies should use it to help save the environment
2. I think they will catch on because they have a cool look and they are eco friendly. They will work for people because they will be good transportation and good for the eco system.
Questions:
1. Will other states and counties do this too?
2. Will this cost a lot of money?
3. Will many people now choose the bus instead of a car?
I am responding to Julia's quesion number one and part of Brittany's question number one. I think that people would and should choose to use this green bus over other sources of transportation. There seem to be no downs if someone chose the green bus over other things. If the government or area spent so much time, money and effort to build the buses then we should support and use them. I think that other states and countries will use this over a long period of time if the buses turn out to be successful. We are getting desperate with trying to clean the earth and this is just a small step to what we should be doing. As I was saying, these buses will probably catch on once people realize how big of a hole we dug ourselves into.
ReplyDeleteOpinion: This is an amazing idea! Now the buses will not pollute as much. Also people won't complain about how much the buses pollute. Some cities are very polluted like Philadelpia with SEPTA. This meathod might be a little costly but this is definatley worth it. This idea should spread everywhere so our planet can become more green.
ReplyDeleteAnswer to Questions:
1) This is a great idea. This might be a little costly but this will save the amount of pollution.
2)I think it will catch on. The community wants to see less pollution. Also this will work for people because the air quality is not as bad as regular gas.
3) It could and it couldn't at the same because some people don't care about the state that our planet is in.
4) The only downside I see is the price that will cost for all these solar panels.
More Questions:
1) Could this impact any group of people?
2) If this idea were to spread, would there be any controversy about this?
3) How does this save the planet in anyway?
